Yohji Yamamoto |
One of the greats of Japanese fashion design, Yohji Yamamoto presented his first eponymous collection in Tokyo in 1977 before debuting at the Paris ready-to-wear shows in 1981. Yamamoto often employs oversized garments with fluid tailoring: usually focused on black as a staple colour Yamamoto's designs create new and interesting silhouettes for the body.
With strong religious and historical influences, especially Edwardian design, Yohji Yamamoto’s new collection sees him bring a touch of Japanese design to wardrobe staples like the shirt and suit trousers. The ruffle front shirt perfectly epitomises the SS11 collection whilst the oversized shirt jacket is classic Yamamoto.
