Comme Des Garçons is the exalted Japanese label headed up by designer Rei Kawakubo, - Kawakubo is regarded by many in the fashion industry as a genius. Trading since 1969, the label is respected internationally as an avant-garde tour de force and creative empire which sprawls far further than the mainline collections.
The Comme brand is based in two prestigious locations; Aoyama in Tokyo and Place de Vendôme in Paris. ‘Comme Des Garçons’ is French for ‘like the boys’, a name that reflects the design aesthetic of mixed masculine and feminine motifs, as well as the often playful overtones.
